LITTLE PEARLS IN PRODUCTION NOW (the first two Dog Pearls are now out!)
Dog Pearls (a new String of Pearls for dog and animal lovers)
The experience of losing Katie, a much-loved family dog, is evolving into four new Little Pearls that relate to an initial vision, plus several more that celebrate the wisdom and love of dogs. All will encourage adoptions and a deeper connection with animals. Katie's buddy Mitch (above) and 26-plus dog friends are our stars and teachers. The filming is completed. We are raising funds, as playful do(g)nations, to create these Pearls. Please join our Pack!
Pinkey was a funny, orphaned screech owl baby who lived in the tender care of Clyde, a certified wildlife rehabber in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina.
As an orphan with special needs, Pinkey needed extra help to become who he was meant to be. He developed a strong bond with his human "mama" Clyde, who used unorthodox rehab methods that we do not encourage others to use. Though traditional rehab wisdom says an imprinted bird cannot succeed on its own, thanks to Clyde's intuitive, unconventional methods, Pinkey truly IS wild and free.
And thanks to their unusual relationship, we have a rare chance to see into a wild raptor's intelligence and personality. We hope this glimpse into Pinkey's world inspires viewers to feel a deeper connection with and concern for screech owls, other raptors and all wildlife and also to learn more about wildlife rehabilitation.
“Any glimpse into the life of an animal quickens our own and makes it
so much the larger and better in every way.” — John Muir
As of Spring 2008, Pinkey's 30 second Pearl is included in an 8+ minute compilation, nestled with its four companion films in a rolling text story.
Can the devastating power of Hurricane Katrina also share with us the power of compassion and community? The two After the Storm Little Pearls speak to the need for our nation to reconsider our priorities. The two-Pearl compilation is the best way to experience After the Storm.
Dr.
Willie Willie
was just an ordinary dog until his bad accident. After his family
helped him recover, he wanted to give something back. Dr. Willie
is now a certified pet therapist who just loves his work, especially
with children. He is a little dog with serious physical challenges,
yet he has a big impact on others. If he can make such a difference,
maybe we all can.
The
Best and Most Beautiful Things... The relationship between Shane and his son Elias is captured
well in a Helen Keller quote: “The best and most beautiful
things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must
be felt with the heart.”
Our
Children Ask the World of Us The message of this Pearl, filmed when Kayla was seven months
old, is: "Kayla Grace is a wonderful child, ready and
eager for life. The choices we make create the future she faces. Our
children ask the world of us."
Everything is a Miracle "There are only two ways to live your life. One is
as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything
is." Albert Einstein's quote shapes the heart of this Little
Pearl. Nicholas is a young boy with Down Syndrome whose contagious
joy is expressed through his love of life.
Child
to Child: Heart to Heart Kids from the Asheville, N.C. area send poignant messages
of love and support to the children of greater New York who suffered
personal loss in the September 11 tragedies.
Special
Gifts Taya and Sallie, 11 and 13 year old girls, play an exquisite
violin duet, "The Lovers' Waltz". They are joined by
sweet dog Chloe, howling her heart out. The message of
this Pearl is: "Open your heart. Share your special
gifts with the world, and let your dreams soar."
Farmer
to Farmer North Carolina farmers' compassionate response to the farmers
in the UK, especially in England, whose lives were devastated
in 2001 due to the foot and mouth epidemic.
Reaching for the Stars Amanda Levesque is a beautiful teenager whose significant physical
challenges pale in comparison to her ability to reach for the
stars and manifest her dreams.
Great Katie: Celebrating a Century of
Living and Loving "Great Katie" Latimore is a one hundred year old African-American
great-great-grandmother who touches us with her loving presence.
Little Pearls is funded by tax-deductible donations from individuals,
organizations and businesses. Donations of all sizes are appreciated.
A "String of Little Pearls," the sampler of our first eight
Little Pearls, with interview and news footage for context, is available
